My Superstars
This year was a record year for me attending live concerts. I got to see some of my favorites (“and yours”) including:
Janet Jackson @ Madison Square Garden ⭐️ May 8, 2023
Beyoncé @ MetLife Stadium ⭐️ July 30, 2023
Tamar Braxton @ Irving Plaza ⭐️ October 24, 2023
Mya @ Samsung HQ ⭐️ November 2, 2023
Durand Bernarr @ La Maroquinerie, Paris FR ⭐️ November 10, 2023
and last but definitely not least… Mariah Carey @ Madison Square Garden ⭐️ December 9, 2023
As an artist, it’s extremely important for me to support other artists. I am blessed to be in a position where I can afford to see some of my favorite artists of all time.
Seeing Janet took me back to my childhood and left me beaming from the inside out. This woman is the true definition of a superstar and she still has that It factor.
The Renaissance tour was life changing. It inspired me to step up my presentation and challenged my own hang ups. I am now a man who is not afraid to wear make up and heels. This show got me to embrace my individuality, my queerness, and my sparkle. Thank you Beyoncé.
Tamar Braxton’s “Love and War” album is one of my all time favorite albums. Unfortunately I missed her tour when the album first came out. This October, I got to a chance to see her on the albums for the10 year anniversary of “Love & War”. She has become one of my favorite vocalists over the last 10 years and this woman can sing!
Mya radiates beauty from the inside and out. As an independent artist and business woman, she is a force on her own. She inspires me to step up my business as an independent artist. I even got a hug and a happy birthday wish from her!
Durand Bernarr gave me the birthday gift of a lifetime. 2 tickets to his sold out show in Paris. He is an emerging artist who is black and queer. He gave me the opportunity to see representation on an international playing field. I got to revisit a place that has a piece of my heart and his gift was a reminder that miracles do happen.
Lastly, getting to see Mariah Carey’s Christmas Spectacular put me in touch with the inner kid who loves Christmas. Not only is she the queen of Christmas she is my favorite artist of all time behind Michael Jackson. I was transported to a magical place hearing her sing so many classics in her repertoire. I was honored to experience her in her element live.
One of my goals for 2024 is to increase my live performances! These artists gave me a lot of inspiration to draw from and reminded me what a gift it is to be a creative in these turbulent times.
